What I'd start with is what you like to do. Close Quarters, Sniper, or Field. After you decide that, find a gun style you like, such as MP5 for CQB, L96 for Sniper, or AK47 for field. After that, take into consideration your price range. Like if you would like to spend $100-$200, get an Echo1 or CA Sportline perhaps. Then, get into the specifics of the model, like the range, accuracy, FPS, ease of take-down, durability and such. Hope it helps! Edit: As Brewer said, head down to the physical Fox store, the staff is quite helpful, and they can get you pointed in the right direction, if not selling you a gun.

I read the the whole post. Helps because the scar is one of my top picks. My preferred area is between sniper and field. I was thinking about the l96 and m4. My budgets about 365 dollars. I dont want to spend that much unless I for sure know the brand is very reliable and worry free. I might sell my guitar so that could bump me up to around 1300 dollars. I'm going to be playing about twice a month. I live in Parker so I'm pretty close to them. Been to the store, talked too. Helped alot but the only problem is the aps2 their selling is higher than the ones I've researched.
If I get the l96 it would include: the l96- about 100 to 150 dollars we caspian or socom m9 -120-140 dollars total-about 220-290 dollars(without upgrades)
still deciding what I should get with the m4 or scar.
Brewer, it seems to me you own nothing other then a KWA! I would like to see how they shot one day. Back on topic, I love the look of the Scar. I would love to get a G&G Scar, but they are a bit expensive. Also the thing about snipers is they are harder to use then they seem. So I say, come out to a pick-up game on day, and see if you could try both throughout the course of the day.

The L96 with a spring spacer and 40.s in the right hands is a really good gun... But for starters most recommend AEGs as do I. For your price range, go CA Sportline but get one with a metal body. Echo1 makes nice starter aegs too, but most have plastic bodies.

Yea I've checked some of the sportline lineup and the echo ones seem to be ok from what I've heard. A friend of mine has a g36 and he just got his. I personaly don't like the look. I went to the foxairsoft store and asked some questions about the classic army series. I looked at the pro line specificly and found some other AEGs that might be in my top picks. But they aren't cheap! I've noticed the lwrc m6a2, m15a4 urx and m15a4 cqb. Exspensive but the guy I talked to says they are top notch.
I'm not sure if I wanna buy something at foxairsoft because I'm positive I could do the research and find better prices. Rightnow Its either the Aps 2 with a bunch of upgrades and a pistol or an exspensive AEG like the lwrc.
What's the reliability on jing gong? Even better, what's your opinion on that brand? I've searched around airsoftmegastore and they have great prices.
JG has been coming out with alot better guns. Many people have recommended to me to get one - but I'm set on the ICS split gearbox for my next weapon. I used to own one of their MP5's around 3 or 4 years ago and it died last year due to cracked gearbox.
The reason I am switching to a split gearbox is because I can downgrade the FPS without taking the time to pull apart the gun to change the spring. They are ~$350 but I believe they are well worth the money.
You get what you pay for in airsoft.
